What Travel has taught me!

Travel is very close to my heart. It allows you to explore the way people live, what they eat, the cultures, the monuments and more than anything else it’s the natural wonders around the world that amaze me. There was a time when I took 3 to 4 holidays in a year, this was in the pre pandemic era. Move over A.D and B.C we now have PC (Pre Covid) and PP (Post Pandemic). In between PC and PP the whole time seems to have gone by like a Blur! The time when we were confined to our homes, when online classes and video conferencing took over everyones lives, so many things changed and so much has happened in these 3 years but sometimes it still feels like nothing has changed.

Coming back to my travel story, it has been 3 years since I traveled abroad. I never thought it would be this long since I was the kind of person who would take off at least once every three months. My top priority used to be travel. I would plan months in advance and ensure I had everything booked and ready! It’s all I really worked for. From Japan to Finland, Spain, Cambodia, Estonia, Poland, USA, Switzerland and around 15 more countries. I also have an instagram handle (that needs more travel photos) @headstandsaroundtheworld that is focussed only around travel and being upside down. Out of all this traveling, there is one country that stood out for me. I never thought I would have such fond memories of my top country to visit, which is Indonesia! And I am not just saying this because I am hosting a Yoga retreat in Bali which happens to be in Indonesia! Absolutely not!

Just for the record, I did not vote for the retreat to be in Bali, it was actually all of you who voted. If it was up to me, I would have probably voted for something more exotic like Costa Rica or Mexico (places that I have not visited)!

Anyway, I say I absolutely loved Indonesia because of the varied experience we had all across the length and breadth of the country. In no other country have I seen active Volcanoes, vast expanses of paddy fields, the most spectacular underwater creatures, pristine beaches and so much more. To top that we saw Komodo dragons, swam with Manta Rays and climbed to a point that had beaches of three different coloured sand; pink, white and black! I have NEVER seen anything like this in any other country that I have traveled to. Apart from all the natural wonders in Indonesia that I can go on and on with, the food in that country really stood out for me. It is so vegetarian and vegan friendly compared to other southeast asian countries.

Travel teaches you to be open to new experiences, to adapt to change and to be self sufficient. I have traveled solo a couple of times and as scary as it may sound, you end up meeting and interacting with a lot more people when you travel alone. So if you are thinking of coming to our retreat in Bali, come to have fun, experience something new in life and of course to explore Bali along with some self exploration with Yoga.

Here are all the details for the Yoga Retreat in Bali. Along with Yoga sessions, there is a Balinese cooking class, visits to a waterfall, a water temple, a swing excursion in the rice fields, sound healing meditation and so much more! I cannot wait to explore Bali one more time with all of you!
